Illustrated with 50 fine hand-coloured engraved plates of insects with their relevant food plants. Full dark blue morocco, spine gilt with decorative gilt borders to covers. All edges gilt, marbled end-papers.

This is the first part (of 16) from Curtis's major work on British entomology which ran to 770 plates in 16 parts or 8 volumes. Each plate has the original tissue guard and a leaf of descriptive text and the book is in very fine clean condition apart from a little minor wear to the spine and some verey noccasional foxing.
