Folio (12.5 x 9 inches) with a decorative engraved titlepage and 84 of 105 hand coloured engraved plates of French female costumes, finely bound in modern half red morocco, spine gilt with raised bands, cloth sides, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, one plate with a neat repair to inner margin, another plate with a small faint foxing patch. Bound without text and lacking all plates after number 84.

The plates are beautifully drawn, each showing a single figure in an appropriate setting. A fine, clean and handsomely bound copy of one of the rarest of the many works on costume produced by Lante.
