large octavo 24 by 15 cms (9.5 by 6 inches) The text of this important book runs to 377 pages plus an index. The first 163 pages covers the custom and practice of English law and the rest of the book deals with the Inns of Court. There are 19 engraved plates (of 24) showing the building and their interiors. The book is bound in contemporary full calf, re-backed with the original spine laid down, later lettering label. The misssing plates appear never to have been bound in. The famous Inns are covered-Lincoln's, Gray's, Middle and Inner Temple etc. A very clean and sound copy. Spine darkened, faint ownership stamp on flyleaf, inscription on half title, foxing to the frontispiece, and few faint foxing spots to some plates.
